Since Buju Banton AKA Mark Myrie was incarcerated for some really questionable charges, the reggae world, and the greater music world as a whole has awaited the release of Jamaica Super Star Buju Banton.
Buju Banton, whose given name is Mark Myrie, is currently being held at McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia. He was arrested in 2009 on cocaine charges, given a mandatory 10-year sentence in 2011, and previously scheduled to be released in 2019.
In 2015 the United States Justice Department announced it would be releasing about 6,600 inmates early from prison in an effort to reduce overcrowding and provide relief to drug offenders who received harsh sentences. In that same year the entertainer said he would be halting any further appeals, while the US Attorney’S Office announced it would be dismissing firearms charge against the singer.
Music fans world wide look forward to an show with Buju Banton upon his release from prison at the end of this year 2018.
I can imagine how it will feel to be released from prison after over 9 years. A very long sentence for a “conspiracy” to commit a crime. It is also suspicious that around this time Buju Banton was significantly climbing the music charts.
I hope that after a few of Buju’s closest fans in and close to Jamaica get some time with Buju when he is released, that he and maybe his son Markus Myrie
Buju Banton’s last interview before his incarceration.
I hope that Buju’s team get’s a show for the Yucatan Mexico. Merida just built a brand new conference center, in fact it isn’t open just yet. It is also the first partnership for Latin America and Samsung. It would be a great venue. There are plenty of places in the Yucatan to have an event like this.
There are some announcements of upcoming shows for Buju Banton.
